Welcome to my April Newsletter.
Happy Easter everyone. Hope that you get your chocolate fix, not forgetting the Hot cross bus, I know that there are lots of different types these days, but I still prefer the traditional variety. 😊 With school holidays upon us again this month the lovely Nan is back in the hot seat, or should I say the hot gazebo – to help me out at some of the extra markets that are on. So do check out the last page to see where we will be this month.
This month’s article is all about how turmeric can help with Menopause, I was listening to the radio recently and there was a program on how menopause is being monetarised, with a projected spend of up to $10B by 2030 (I think those were the figures – or something similar) and that doesn’t include the loss of money we experience as well. Now, I really won out on the genetic lottery when it came to the menopause and took after my mother who not only had children late in life – as did I – but seemed to sail through the menopause years. My journey was very similar with very mild symptoms, which I was able to easily deal with. My two sisters weren’t so lucky. Now, whilst I don’t claim that turmeric is a silver bullet – otherwise I would be a very rich woman – research has shown that taking a good turmeric – like my Health2all turmeric - can help with a wide range of problems and symptom, whether you’re a perimenopausal, menopausal or post-menopausal. And if the woman in your life is happier, that will make the lives of the men better too, so it’s a win-win situation.

Turmeric - "The Golden Goddess"

This colourful spice has a long history of medicinal use. I love its nickname “The Golden Goddess”, for me, it is the perfect menopausal herb for the Goddess approaching her Golden Years, as it can help bring richness to her health and happiness.
Turmeric is known to contain over 300 active constituents, some have been researched others are still undiscovered. For this reason, I don’t recommend isolated Curcumin products, as ideally, you want to use a whole root extract, as you will find in Health2all turmeric products.
Turmeric has many modes of action, including - a phytoestrogen, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antihistamine, anti-atherogenic, analgesic, antimicrobial, cardioprotective, digestive, hepatoprotective, Immune modulating, vulnerary (wound healing), nephroprotective (kidney), neuroprotective, cardioprotective, and the list goes on and on.
In regard to the menopausal transition, turmeric may benefit you in these ways.
1. Reducing Hot Flushes – due to its phytoestrogen and antihistamine properties.
2. Natural Antihistamine – helps with hives, migraines, fatigue and severe sweating.
3. Weight Loss- helps regulate fat metabolism and may reduce dangerous visceral fat.
4. Bone Health – reduces bone loss due to its phytoestrogen activity.
5. Heart Health - it is a blood thinner, helps dissolves clots, improves blood vessel function, as well as reducing total cholesterol.
6. Brain Health - Tetra hydro curcumin has a powerful neuroprotective effect. It may help slow down age-related neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s.
7. Pain - As an analgesic it has painkiller-like effects, it also has anti-inflammatory effects meaning it can reduce pain and improve joint mobility.
8. Immune Health - it has an immune regulating action and can boost general immunity. It has also been shown to reduce viral replication.
9. Allergies - Turmeric’s antihistamine effects not only helps to reduce hot flushes but also reduces allergies.
10. Urinary Health - inhibits the pathogens causing urinary tract infections.
11. Blood sugar/diabetes - increases adiponectin levels, which regulates metabolic processes including glucose regulation, insulin sensitivity and fat storage.
12. Digestion - has wound healing properties. It protects and heals any gastrointestinal damage, especially with conditions such as UC, Crohn's, leaky gut, proctitis and ulcers.
13. Chelator - helps to bind and remove excess iron and copper.
14. Liver Function - increases detoxification. It protects the liver against assaults and may play a role in rejuvenating and improving liver function.
15. Kidney Function - it works to protect the kidneys against damage.
As you can see turmeric can offer an amazing array of benefits for many people not just menopausal women. Though as a Golden Goddess myself I have to say that I can highly recommend it. 😊 However, as with all things do, please check with your health provider before starting to take it.
