The Turmeric and Health Newsletter for December 2025

Welcome to my December Newsletter.

AC Healthy Solutions Newsletter | AC Healthy Solutions

I hope that this newsletter finds you fit and well, in the count down to Christmas. This is going to be a big month for me in several ways.

Firstly, there are quite a few Christmas Twilight markets in the lead up to Christmas, which I’m sure are going to be fun. Also, you will notice that there are several markets where I appear to be in two places at once…well, I would like you all to welcome the wonderful Nan, who is coming onboard to help me with some of the duplicate markets over December and January. Some of you may have met her before as she very kindly covered for me when I travelled back to the UK to see family and friends. She’s done markets before with her own company, and you can’t keep a good woman down, so she will be out and about over the next couple of months. Just look out for the orange gazebo and you will find her.

Secondly, I am lucky enough to have both my son and daughter back for Christmas. This is a first in many years as one or other of them has been working or away over the holiday period, so we will all be together over Christmas, along with Darcy, Lexi’s partner. Plus, it will be Lexi’s birthday whilst she is here. Yes, I know not good timing for a birthday, but Mike was born in December as well, so it all comes at once!! 😊 You could say that I’m super organised……

Finally, I have a new product, which I think will be great for the Christmas holidays, or any time, to be honest, fresh Australian walnuts, in a dark chocolate coating, dusted in turmeric. Good nutritious walnuts, Australian grown, tick, excellent quality dark chocolate, tick, dusted in turmeric, tick, and they taste good as well. They come in two sizes, the 100gm retails for $9 and the 250gm pack sells for $19.50. You can get them at my stall and by phone order. They will be on my web site as soon as possible. They are proving to be very popular, and I will be ordering some more on Monday. 😊 Hope to see you over the coming weeks.

Turmeric for the Heart

Turmeric for the Heart | AC Healthy Solutions

Turmeric may benefit heart health due to its active compound, curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help improve endothelial function (how flexible your veins and arteries are), lower "bad" (LDL) cholesterol, and protect against oxidative stress. Initial results are encouraging, though the research is still developing, and turmeric's effectiveness can be limited by poor absorption, which is why we use an organic turmeric with a 6% curcumin, with the black pepper, MCT oil and the digestive activators, which all help to improve the absorption to over 90%.

Potential benefits for heart health

  • Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects: Curcumin, which has been shown to be a highly effective natural anti-inflammatory can help fight inflammation and oxidative stress, which are linked to heart disease, myocarditis etc.

  • Improved endothelial function: Studies suggest curcumin can improve the function of the lining of blood vessels. As we age it is especially important that we don’t suffer from the hardening of our arteries and veins. Curcumin has been shown to help maintain their flexibility, with one study showing effects similar to exercise.

  • Lowered cholesterol: Some research indicates that curcumin may help lower "bad" LDL cholesterol. I have had several anecdotal accounts from customers who have seen their cholesterol levels reduced by taking their turmeric. It was almost a “side-effect”, but they were delighted with the outcome.

  • Reduced blood pressure: Turmeric may have a mild effect on lowering blood pressure. Again, as we age, the flexibility of our blood vessels can plan an important role in maintaining a good blood pressure.

  • Protection against heart attacks: A small study found that turmeric may help prevent heart attacks in patients who have had bypass surgery. This may be linked to the potential blood thinning property of curcumin.

As turmeric can have a blood thinning effect, it is important to check with your health care professional if you are taking any strong blood thinners such as warfarin. Also, if you are going for surgery, it is advised that you stop taking turmeric for 7 days before your operation. I did have emergency surgery on my wrist when I broke it, I was on a double dose to help take down the inflammation, which it did very well, and wasn’t able to stop my dosage, I did warn the surgeon and there was no deleterious effect.
