Welcome to my March Newsletter.

AC Healthy Solutions Newsletter | AC Healthy Solutions

Yet another month has flown by, I have achieved lots of things, though given the hot weather we have been experiencing, not as much as I would have hoped. I find that in the heat I don’t want to do as much, though Mike and I have decided that aircon is a must before next year. I love my house and the fans are great, but I think that the addition of aircon would be wonderful. I really have to take my hat off to those who lived in this country 100s of years ago without all the modern conveniences, even fans are a great invention, air con, next level! Have we all gone soft, or is there some lesson or trick that I’m missing? I know that I grew up in a country where keeping warm was more important than keeping cool, but I have fully acclimatised, so I’m missing something somewhere.

On the theme of missing things/tips. I came across grounding many years ago and have always been intrigued as to how our changing culture has moved us away from the natural environment. We are very lucky here in Australia, the beach and the bush/countryside are still very much part of so many of our lives, which is wonderful. It’s so easy, especially for those of us who live in big cities to become estranged from the natural. It still amuses me that when you read about the experiences of foreigners, visiting Australia, one of the things that they find astounding, is the number of Aussies who wander round bare foot, and not just on the beach but everywhere. This is so good for you. So this month’s article is about grounding and how beneficial it is for you, not just in helping to reduce inflammation in the body, but for a host of other good things.

As the weather begins to cool down – yes, really, thoughts tend to turn towards warm comfort food and curried sausages is a definite family favourite, so that is your recipe for March.

Just like February, March is a month that starts on a Sunday, so again all my usual market pairings are thrown into disarray. Added to which I have two different markets. I will be at Hawkes Nest on the 7th March – also on is the Hot Rods in Tea Gardens – plus we have the annual Purple Peoples Market on Thursday 12th March in Wauchope as part of the Lasiandra Festival. I hope to see you around. 😊

Grounding to Help Reduce Inflammation

Grounding to reduce inflammation | AC Healthy Solutions

Inflammation is one of the body’s core defense responses—a built-in mechanism that signals the immune system when protection or repair is needed. Under typical conditions, this process aids in healing and fighting infection. However, when inflammation becomes chronic, the system’s “off switch” malfunctions, leading to continuous cellular stress. Over time, this persistent state, contributes to long-term health issues such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders.

At the cellular level, inflammation begins when free radicals, unstable molecules missing electrons, damage healthy cells. This imbalance triggers oxidative stress, setting off a cascade of immune responses that disrupt communication between cells, hinder mitochondrial function, and can even compromise DNA integrity. These microscopic disruptions gradually influence how tissues repair and how efficiently the body maintains equilibrium.

Each cell in the human body operates through its own delicate electrical potential. The Earth’s surface naturally carries a negative electrical charge, filled with free electrons. When the skin comes into direct contact with the ground, such as through walking barefoot on grass, soil, or sand, these electrons can flow into the body, effectively connecting the Body’s bioelectrical system with that of the Earth.

Scientific research highlights that this flow of electrons can help neutralize free radicals, the unstable molecules responsible for cellular stress and inflammation. By stabilizing these reactive molecules, grounding helps protect cell membranes and supports the body’s natural healing responses. This electron transfer acts as a natural antioxidant system, restoring molecular balance and promoting harmony in cellular processes.

The human body can be compared to a finely tuned electrical circuit, where the heart, brain, and nervous system continuously rely on precise electrical signalling. Exposure to artificial electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and limited contact with natural surfaces can interfere with this balance, potentially disrupting normal physiological rhythms.

Grounding restores this lost connection, syncing the body’s charge with the Earth’s natural negative potential. This electrical harmony supports physiological stability and may help regulate hormonal and nervous system activity. When balanced, the body can better control cortisol levels, the stress hormone, while promoting parasympathetic nervous system activation, the state responsible for rest, recovery, and repair. This creates a restorative, anti-inflammatory environment at both the cellular and systemic levels.

For best results, health professionals often suggest spending 20–40 minutes each day practicing grounding. With regular consistency, this habit can strengthen immune defence, boost cellular renewal, and help the body sustain physiological balance. Ongoing connection with the Earth’s natural energy promotes physical recovery and mental clarity, reinforcing the vital role of grounding in supporting overall health and well-being.

Inflammation begins at the microscopic level, but its effects ripple through the entire body. Through regular grounding, it’s possible to support cellular balance, reduce inflammation, and encourage recovery naturally. For those seeking long-term wellness, start integrating grounding practices today along with your turmeric.
